A high proportion of all accidents of metalworking lathes involve the use of emery cloth and result in injuries such as broken and, occasionally, amputated fingers.
The Prismont MST – SBH (patent pending) sanding belt holder from Solon Systems is simple, effective, portable and safe.
It is mounted into the lathe tool post and the abrasive belt is simply slipped over the rollers.
The hand wheel is used to index the belt.

NEW Large Diameter Sanding Belt Holder from Solon Systems
Solon Systems are the UK distributors of the NEW Prismont MST-SBH4.0" (4" belt width) sanding belt holder for manual centre lathes. This new model has the capacity to polish up to 423 mm dia shafts. The abrasive belts are 100mm wide and are available in numerous grit sizes to meet most applications. Like the size 1.0 and 2.0 versions, the Prismont MST-SBH4.0 sanding belt holder simply fits into the existing tool post on the lathe. The belt support arms are spring loaded to tighten the belt and the device is fitted with a hand wheel which indexes the abrasive belt via a gear box so that the shaft to be polished is presented with clean abrasive during the polishing cycle. The belts are inexpensive and easy to change.
This is a unique cost effective safe means of polishing on manual centre lathes.
