Light Curtains

Description

Light curtains are safety devices suitable for various types of machine tools and processing equipment. They are particularly useful where a physical barrier is not practicable. Light beams are emitted from the transmitter post in various patterns and distances apart in accordance with the protection required (ie Limb protection / body protection/ hand protection). The light beams are aligned to the receiver post and both transmitter and receivers are wired into the machines control circuitry via a control relay. If a light beam /beams are interrupted then this will trigger a reaction which is generally an emergency stop signal. Light curtains are commonly used on Presses, guillotines, saws and certain processing equipment / transfer lines & conveyors. Solon Systems and it's associates can specify, supply and fit safety light curtains for most suitable applications. Note; We do not supply light guards for use on Press brakes   To help us quote you, we need to know:

1. Height of the area to be protected by the light curtain.
2. Resolution of the lights curtain.  The most popular are 14mm (finger), 30mm (hand) and 800mm 3 beam for body.
3. Distance away from the danger point the customer wants to mount the light curtain an if they have it the stop time of the machine.
4. Distance needed between the emitter and receiver parts of the light curtain.
5. Cable lengths required.
6. Do you want a safety relay?
7. Is any muting required? This is a controlled way to temporarily allow the light curtain to let an object through e.g. a pallet.
